Amber Lenington, Miss Grand Lake's Outstanding Teen 2014!

Saturday night was a blast! I had so much fun spending the last day as MGLOT. I arrived and saw Bailey and my directors, then I got to meet the judges and have a mock interview. After we all had lunch and the girls had interviews, I went to Ms Chenos house for an afternoon dinner with the judges and Miss Oklahoma. That was so fun! The show started at 6:30, it went by really fast. As the night went on, I performed my Mr. Monotony Musical Theater dance I did at MOOT, and I also performed my Mellow Saxophone Tap dance I won MGLOT with last year. At the end of the night Amber Lenington was crowned the new Miss Grand Lake's Outstanding Teen and Clare Holloway was crowned the new Miss Grand Lake! It was a bittersweet moment. During the pageant, we said goodbye to one of the directors, Jeanne Whitely. She's moving to Tulsa. Jeanne has been with the Grand Lake board of directors for 36 years and she's now leaving us.. That was a sad moment but she went out in style. We love her to pieces and she will always have a special place in all of the former titleholders hearts. I'm excited that I have been so blessed with amazing people. I just thank the Lord for everyone He has placed in my life, and for a wonderful year as Miss Grand Lake's Outstanding Teen 2013.

Last of my Reign...

I cannot believe that my year as Miss Grand Lake's Outstanding Teen 2013 is almost over. It has gone by so fast and I have loved every minute of it. I want to say a special thanks to Elizabeth Whitehead. She is my pageant coach, and I would not know what to do without her. She is an amazing woman and has taught me so much. Being a former contestant, she really knows the "ropes". Elizabeth owns a fabulous boutique, Amaranth Collection. Everyone should visit her store, because it is that amazing. I also want to thank my director, Cheno Kennedy. She also is a HUGE blessing. She has guided and giving me so much support. Even telling me the little things like, I looked great or reminding me to be myself, really did brighten up my day. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable year I will cherish forever. :)

MOOT Re-cap

Miss Oklahoma was a blast! I always  love going, and getting to know more people that come from all over the state of Oklahoma. Everyone there is extremely supportive of everything you do. I have no words to say how wonderful this pageant system is. Its Amazing and definitely a blessing. The First prelim was on Thursday, and I did my talent. I danced a Musical Theater called Mr. Monotony. Then Friday morning, I competed in active wear and evening gown with onstage Q&A. Active wear is my favorite. Friday night was  finals night, and I was so excited when Ashten Vincent was crowned the new MOOT! She is a wonderful Teen and has such a sweet and kind heart. I did not make the top 11, but I was fortunate enough to receive a Non Finalist Talent Award. I love the opportunities you have as a title holder to reach many lives through your talent and platform. The Miss GrandLake pageant is coming up very soon, and I'm excited to pass on my title to a young woman who will continue to impact communities such the Grove and GrandLake area.

MIss Oklahoma KickOff!

Saturday, June 1st was the first event for Miss Oklahoma. It was the Masquerade on the Red Carpet! This event was sponsored my BodyTrends, and every contestant had to make their own mask. I was so impressed with all of the creative masks everyone had! This was such a fun event. Starting with a runway show, with a runway that lights up when you walk on it! Then pictures with Miss Oklahoma, Alicia Clifton, and Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen, Julianne Thomison! Then the night ends with a photoboth and mingling with others. So fun getting to see my pageant sisters again! I cannot wait to hangout with them, I am ready for hours and hours of fun rehearsals. I am open and ready to see what God has in store for me this year.

Cherokee Yacht Club Fashion Show

Memorial day weekend, I had the opportunity to model in a swimsuit fashion show for a boutique in the Cherokee Yacht Club in Grand Lake. Many pageant contestants were asked to participate, including the reigning Miss Oklahoma, Alicia Clifton! There were about twenty of us along with some of the club members. This fashion show is a great event right before Miss Oklahoma that many of the contestants can have some practice modeling in swimsuits and heels infront of an audience. Most of the time it is very nerve-racking standing infront of about one hundred people modeling a bikini, and telling them a little bit about yourself, BUT it was FUN! Its just a week before our big pageant, and this event honestly helped my confidence level. I have been working so hard on preparing and being as ready as possible, and now I can just relax and get stuff together for MOOT! I hope to see many people at Miss Oklahoma supporting the Grand Lake Girls and all the others competing as well. Its going to be a fun week.

Miss Chick 2013!

Miss Chick is a part of the Rooster Days Festival here in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. It is a historical event that promotes involvement in her community. I had the honor of going back a second year and make an appearance with Bailey, Miss Grand Lake. I had a opportunity to speak during the pageant about what is going on in my life as a titleholder and share experiences I have had though my journey towards MOOT. I got to meet and spend time with the girls before the pageant and everyone was so sweet. Shelby Dickerson was the winner this year, and will spend most of it speaking at businesses. She will talk about how the younger generation will benefit from their service, and promote the importance of community service involvement in her area. If you have never been to a Rooster Days event, I srognly encourage you to participate in this fun historic event.

MOOT 2013

Its getting closer and closer to the week of the pageant! I do believe there are only 25 more days until the week starts. Very exciting! This year has gone my so fast and I can hardly believe its almost time to compete. The part that I am looking forward to the most, is seeing all my pageant sisters. A big part of this program is that we are so close. During the week it doesn't even cross my mind that we are competing against each other, because everyone is so supportive. At this time I'm tweaking the last of my talent, finding the last bit of my wardrobe, and finding every opportunity I can to get as much interview practice as possible. I want to thank everyone who is helping me to be as prepared as possible for this week that is to come.

Hemophilia Walk 2013

April 20th was the third annual Hemophilia Walk! I was the team leader for TEAM H.E.L.P. We raised a total of $3,045 and came in 5th place for the overall top fundraisers on the day of the walk. I had a blast at this event and it was fun for the kids especially, with blowups, face painters, bouncy houses and a dunk tank to name a few. This is a really easy way to get involved and help impact the hemophilia community. In order to come closer to finding a longer lasting treatment or even a cure will not be possible without the community's help. I want to say a special thanks to HPC. This is a pharmaceutical and home-help company and they were my main sponsor for this event. I strongly encourage everyone  to be a part of this event for the upcoming yearbecause knowing you can make a difference is something you can treasure forever.

Contestants Day!

Today was Contestants Day! It is a day that all contestants competing for Miss Oklahoma, and Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen get together and show their talent and find out the last bit of details we need to know about the pageant. You get to meet new friends and see old friends you made last year. This is one of my friends, Summer Stolz, and she is Miss Green Country's Outstanding Teen 2013. I met her last year at the pageant, and I had a blast being her Secret Sister(an assigned gift giver)! I believe that this pageant system is about building relationships, and growing up to be the BEST young woman you can be. Being in this system you experience so many things that people my age would not normally do. I know that I learn and grow every day from being a part of this pageant system, and it has shaped me into the person I am today. I LOVE being a part of  MOOT.

My Hero

My brother Kyle getting infused after a hip injury. Every time he gets hurt he has to do this. They are injecting Factor into his body, so his blood will clot and heal the injury. My brother is the one who inspired me to come up with my platform H.E.L.P.(Hemophilia Education Leadership Program), and so far I have raised over $4,000 for research and development at a  local and national level. And the funny thing is, I am terrified of needles. Thats why he is my hero.
